Georg Dionysius Ehret (1708-1770)
One of the most talented and influential botanical artists of all time, Georg Dionysius Ehret was born in Germany. His drew the illustrations for several masterpieces of botanical literature in the 18th century. He met the famed Swedish botanist, Linnaeus in 1736 and corresponded with him. Linnaeus influenced his inclusion of plant structure; a refinement that illustrators began to follow.
